Eliburn Day Support service is looking for a manager who has experience in working with individuals who have complex needs including learning disability.

The unit provides a range of activities and opportunities for adults with profound and multiple learning disability. The service aims to ensure that customized programs of support are designed round the needs and aspirations of the service user group and aims to ensure that outcomes are improved for each participant.

The successful applicant will be expected to lead a large motivated staff team and should be willing to work in flexible way. They will work with a range of professionals and family members to ensure that all activity is person centered. The service user should be at the centre of planning activity and care plans should be regularly reviewed and evaluated to ensure that they remain relevant and are making a positive contribution to achieving individual goals.

The key duties of this post are:
  • To manage the day to day running of the service, ensuring that the relevant statutory/ Council policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • To create an inviting and supportive environment for service users, by implementing the philosophy, role and objectives of the service.
  • To manage the service in accordance with standards set by the Council and the Care Inspectorate and in conjunction/consultation with the Group Manager.
  • To maintain the best possible levels of professional and managerial practice within the operational service


The skills and experience you must have:
  • A suitable Social Work or Health qualification recognised by the SSSC (Social Work, Nursing or SVQ4 in Health and Social Care)
  • Management Qualification at Minimum SVQ 4 (or SCQF Level 8 or above)

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.
