Sampling Officer

17.5 hours per week
Permanent
£18,112 - £19,097 pro rata (Including Distant Islands Allowance)

We are looking for an individual to undertake the role of Sampling Officer. Reporting to the Environmental Health Manager, the successful applicant will provide technical support to the professional staff in Environmental Health

You will undertake site surveys, food and environmental sampling, monitoring and surveillance, including private water supply risk assessments.

This is a demanding job with a varied workload and a requirement to meet strict deadlines, therefore a high level of self-motivation and commitment to team working are paramount to this post.

An excellent communicator, you will have a strong commitment to excellent customer service and be able to demonstrate how you can positively engage with a range of interested parties including business owners, the public and local communities.

You should hold an SVQ 3 or equivalent level qualification in a science based field.

You will need to be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
