Technical Database Solutions Manager (Oracle)


  • Role: Technical Database Solutions Manager (Oracle)
  • Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 + 15% Bonus + Benefits

Working with one such company with their base in Coventry, I’m looking for a Technical Database Solutions Manager.


  • You will be responsible for delivering technical solutions across multiple disciplines, contributing to and aligning with architectural strategy to deliver to project or programme timescales.
  • You will be accountable for the design, build and implementation of technical solutions to meet Business requirements and IT Infrastructure roadmaps.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, processes and standards and delivery is to the desired timescales.
  • Manage the key stakeholder expectations by owning the risks and issues associated with their projects, ensuring these are reported and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance, support and training to less experienced members of the team and provide out of hours support as required to meet operational IT needs.
Skills / Experience:

Team management will be a core part of your experience, with the ability to coach and develop individuals, and you have the drive to motivate a Delivery focussed team to effectively design and build quality, documented solutions and to efficiently transition these to support teams.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have worked as a Database Administrator, building and administering database solutions.
  • Have maintained a current view of industry best practices in designing and building new infrastructure.
Essential skills and experience:

  • Oracle RDBMS
  • Dataguard and high availability.
  • RMAN backup and recovery.
  • SQL Server Database (2005, 2008, 2012) installation & management
  • Performance tuning and monitoring.
  • Technical Engineering team coaching and management
Desirable Skills:

  • E-business suite (HR/Finance)
  • Experience of Oracle based applications (both backend and mid-tier).
  • Experience of running bespoke .net applications running on large Oracle databases.
  • Oracle Application Server (forms and reports).
  • Netezza Data Warehouse appliance and change data capture.

  • Knowledge of systems management procedures in a large commercial, mission-critical environment.
  • Capacity planning, performance tuning, proactive monitoring.
  • Change control, release procedures and tools.
  • ITIL based service management framework
