You will work alongside two other Managers in our Community Payback Team (CPO) within our Criminal and Youth Justice Service.

The key duties of this post are:
  • To provide professional support, supervision and leadership to group(s) of social work/non social work staff.
  • To ensure that a high quality of social work practice is provided and maintained, and that appropriate services are provided to meet the needs of the Criminal Justice system statutory obligations.

The skills and experience you must have:
  • BA in Social Work or other approved recognised Social Work qualification.SSSC Registration
  • Considerable and varied experience and established competence as a social work practitioner essential.
    Significant experience of statutory Criminal justice Social Work
  • Experience of Criminal Justice Risk Assessment tools.
    An ability to lead and manage staff with a personal style which is likely to induce staff confidence, supporting, enabling, and encouraging them to provide good quality standards of care and service.
  • Ability to work with difficult people.
  • Knowledge of what is effective in terms of reducing re-offending.
  • Good level of legislative knowledge relevant to the post.
  • Resilience, ability to communicate to a high standard, ability to produce high quality written work.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
