Job Description
Stirling Council is an ambitious Council, delivering an exciting new vision, and one which is externally focused and aimed at ensuring positive outcomes for all our communities. In particular, at the Council we want to take advantage of the area's unrivalled location and rapid growth to provide opportunities and services for all our citizens and to encourage sustainable business development. To support this we have a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled solicitor to join the team on a short-term basis, to help deliver legal services at the Council and to also play a key role in the delivery of the Council's vision. The post will also include having an important part in the delivery of a number of exciting Council initiatives, including the Council's City Region Deal, which is the Council's ambitious £200m vision to transform Stirling into a global and international powerhouse, designed to build on Stirling's many world class assets and re-position it as a major economic player, centre of innovation and destination of choice, and which we hope to achieve a City Deal in respect of. The successful candidate will help deliver high quality and solution-focused legal advice and support on a wide range of licensing and litigation matters, including managing the operation of the Council's liquor licensing function and aspects of its civic licensing function, and legal support for matters relating to children, education, housing, anti-social behaviour orders, employment, social work and health and social care integration. The candidate will also assist the Chief Governance Officer on a large variety of other matters related to the wider governance of the Council.
Requirements
Stirling Council is committed to ensuring the safety of vulnerable people and our recruitment process is designed to support this. The preferred candidate will be subject to a Disclosure Scotland check. It is Stirling Council's policy to ask that you pay for this disclosure.
