Job Title: SQL DBA
Location: Leeds
Salary: Up to £45,000 dependent on experience + 3% flexible benefits + on target bonus of 10% + contributory pension

We’re now looking for a Database Infrastructure Administrator to join our growing team. The role will primarily be to support business operations, looking to identify improvements that can be made throughout the organisation. As the organisation is rapidly expanding the systems need to expand with it, so a major part of this role will be to ensure we have capacity for future growth and to ensure stability.

You’ll be responsible for:
•Ensuring that all IT policies and procedures are maintained in line with PCI DSS and ITIL guidelines the successful candidate will proactively review and evaluate new technologies so that the Database infrastructure can maintain the current and future business needs
•Day to day support and management of a multi-server, multi-version SQL Server 2008/2008R2/2012/2014 estate. Ensuring optimal performance and availability of SQL Server so that the Database infrastructure can maintain the current and future business needs. Developing, documenting and executing appropriate operating procedures for the database estate.
•Troubleshooting problems which arise from time to time. Liaising with SQL Server users to provide support, identify and advise on matters of appropriate use and best practice.
•Working with SQL/Data Warehouse development teams to improve service design, capacity planning and improve code performance.
•Performance monitoring, optimization, identifying bottlenecks, respond to ad hoc alerts, troubleshooting of databases and business critical applications
•Working with 3rd party/infrastructure team/storage engineers to improve hardware configuration/resilience and performance.
•Performance tuning of New/Existing indexes/Statistics and stored procedures used in current ETL process and existing SSRS reports on both SQL Server/Data warehouse etc.
•Preparing and deploying SQL batch scripts and management utilities and support of Development Life Cycles
•Proactively develop and maintain skill sets to keep up to date with developments in Microsoft’s technology stack.

You’ll need to evidence the following qualifications, skills and experience:

•Demonstrable, recent experience of troubleshooting, optimizing, SQL server and associated client tools and systems based on SQL Server 2008 - SQL Server 2014 Enterprise.
•Experience of both project and 1st , 2nd and 3rd tier support work on SQL Server - 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014 – Enterprise.
•Experience of migration and upgrades of SQL Server instances ¬- Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014 and SQL Server 2016 – Enterprise.
•Experience of managing both company “home-grown” and application driven databases supported by SQL Server/Data Warehouse.
•Demonstrate recent experience of problem solving around:
o Query and Server performance improvement.
o Locking/Blocking/Deadlocks behaviour.
o Scheduled task failure.
o High availability e.g. availability groups
•Security/integrity/assurance of SQL database related processes;
o SQL Server development – database design/optimisation:
o Design and analysis of SQL tables and indexes with a view to an optimal balance of storage requirement and performance.
o Experience of SQL partitioning across multiple file groups and auto tiered storage.
•Exposure to XML based data.
•PowerShell scripting - will be advantageous.
•Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL-Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft SQL Integration Services (SSIS) and Microsoft SQL Analysis Services (SSAS) would be desirable.
•Expert knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 & Business Intelligences Development Studio 2008 (BIDS 2008) would be desirable.
•Good knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio Team System, Team Foundation Server (TFS) and GitLab.
•Candidates will preferably hold a Microsoft certification such as MCTS, MCITP, MCSA/E and/or be willing to study towards an accreditation.
•Excellent interpersonal communication at all levels.
