Commercial Manager

Basic salary £50 - £60K & company bonus scheme

Our client is a FTSE listed organisation which supplies the widest range of tools, plant, and specialist hire equipment and support services in the UK.

Reporting to the Commercial Director this newly created position will strengthen the company’s leadership in a key area of the business. This is a national role and will require flexibility to travel to other locations when needed. Previous experience in the Hire or related/other service industry is essential. The role is very much focused on providing support to the Sales teams

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage the commercial team to ensure appropriate support is provided to Sales and Operations teams.
  • Assist in the management of tender submissions and any subsequent contract negotiation, mobilisation and implementation.
  • Ensure all agreements are carefully managed through their complete lifecycle and in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations.
  • Management and ownership of key commercial processes, working closely with Sales, Finance, Operations and senior management.
  • Apply consistent commercial and financial principles to improve business performance and provide proactive contractual and commercial guidance to all stakeholders to balance legal/contractual risks, financial considerations, and service excellence.
  • Resolve commercial and contractual problems/disputes.
  • Deputising for the Commercial Director as required

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Financial and Commercial Acumen.
  • Experience in contract/commercial management.
  • Experience in dealing with clients’ contracts and bids.
  • Contract negotiation and drafting skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and quality focus.
  • Demonstrable record of achievement in a pressurised change-orientated sales/service environment.
  • A Business, Law or related qualification to degree or equivalent level is desirable.
