DevOps Engineer

DevOps Engineer required by a forward thinking Ed-tech organisation to assist with the platform development and the promotion of the company DevOps culture

My client is an ever-expanding global Ed-tech organisation operating in 100+ countries, in need of securing a DevOps. They are in partnership with leading brands like Coca Cola, providing an educational product, which is unrivalled in their sector.

The DevOps Engineer will work closely with the backend development team, to understand what code they are deploying, prior to deployment, in order to identify issues. Another key part of the role is to manage the AWS infrastructure and champion infrastructure as code and continuous integration best practices.

Responsibilities of the DevOps Engineer:

  • Champion infrastructure and continuous integration engineering best practices with the team to develop appropriate processes to ensure adherence while maintaining software quality
  • Work closely with development, service and support teams to promote a DevOps culture
  • Demonstrate a logical and structured approach to task prioritisation with minimum guidance
  • Monitor systems, application and vulnerabilities to ensure they are performance and secure
  • Own the release process of internal code and push out configuration changes
  • Proactively keep abreast of industry developments, skills and technologies and share information, ideas and best practice with development team members to improve software quality
  • Challenge and influence our developers and product owners to ensure new applications and services are delivery the right thing in the right way
  • Will mentor and inspire team members and colleagues

Skills of the DevOps Engineer:

  • 4+ years of experience in PHP development (Zend, Symfony or Laravel framworks)
  • Strong experience in Linux/Unix administration
  • AWS cloud experience
  • Configuration management experience (Chef or Puppet or Ansible or Salt)
  • Adept at utilising and integrating CI/CD (Jenkins)
  • Experience working with version control (Git, bitbucket etc)
  • Strong written ability and excellent communication skills

Package of the DevOps Engineer:

  • Salary up to £60,000
