Role Overview

The Strategic Communications and Marketing Consultant will provide day-to-day strategic and tactical communications and market support to a business line, working in collaboration with business line directors and their teams plus operational communications colleagues, to promote their work amongst stakeholders and provide operational communication support to aid delivery. The post holder will report to the Senior Strategic Communications and Marketing Consultant, and work closely with marketing and strategic communication colleagues to support the business lines to develop and deliver a co-ordinated programme of communication and marketing activities, both on and offline.

This role is primarily a communications role with 25 per cent marketing related.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building an in-depth understanding of the business line, their strategy and products

  • Developing, implementing and evaluating a business line communications and marketing plan with associated activity and messaging for both on and offline

  • Promoting the business lines knowledge and expertise through an array of different activities to position them as 'industry experts’

  • Reporting to the Senior Strategic Communications and Marketing Consultant to ensure the business line plans sits in an overarching strategy

  • Work with the wider communications and marketing team to offer a comprehensive full service

  • Managing the day-to-day communications and marketing activities

  • Supporting implementation of projects and initiatives through advising on best practice communication activities

  • Work with the Senior Strategic Communications and Marketing Consultant to ensure co-ordination across all business line communication and marketing activities

  • Engage with all stakeholders across the business line to build an in-depth knowledge and understanding to be able to advise in a timely way on activities that will promote the reputation of the department and generate new client enquiries

  • Develop a business line communications and marketing plan to position the department and their products in the market place

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Marketing & Communications Degree

  • Solid Industry experience is key, ideally from an IT or technology background

  • Strategic and tactical approach to work

  • Creative thinker

  • Senior Stakeholder management experience

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • NHS Experience

  • Theoretical understanding of the role is desirable

  • Health industry experience is desirable
