This position is based North of Peterborough.

Summary of role:
• To be responsible for testing activities as part of the software development team - minimising the risk of releasing software not fit for purpose or fundamentally flawed in its functionality • To work in a methodical, consistent way, creating new and using existing documented processes
• Naturally inquisitive with an eye for detail and a methodical approach to testing systems • Able to take a diplomatic approach when working with developers to help isolate and resolve issues • Excellent communicator in both oral and written forms • Capable of working alone or with the team depending on the circumstances • Able to work under pressure from time to time, appreciating deadlines and delivery schedules • Passionate about technology - appreciative of the ongoing, developing nature of systems and being a key part of the team that drives such development • Diligent and responsible, taking ownership of testing knowing that the development team will rely on your thorough and exacting standards • Understanding of the business, able to apply judgement and advice as to the scale of issues and their significance - to help the development team prioritise efforts accordingly
Preferred Experience :
• 2+ years’ experience working in a software test environment • 3+ years’ working in a general IT support field
• Knowledge of Linux (Debian distribution) • Familiar with EPOS systems and services from experience working in the retail support sector (preferably convenience) • Coding / scripting experience (particularly Perl) • Exposure to formal test processes and methodologies • Experience working in an Agile environment • Knowledge of databases (MySQL, MS SQL, Postgres, Redshift)
