Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer job near Uttoxeter. Electrical Bias. 4 on/4 off shifts. Salary £40k + OT

Your new role
You'll drive yourself and others to optimise machinery output and product quality, and minimise plant downtime through effective preventative maintenance, efficient breakdown response and quality continuous improvement whilst maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practice. You'll ensure maintenance is carried out in line with the schedule and effective and efficient corrective action is taken. You will give a quick and effective response to mechanical and electrical breakdowns anywhere on site, identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurring. You'll communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Engineering Manager / Maintenance manager and liaise effectively with the operations department to minimise plant disruption. You must be a role model for good engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department and encourage other engineers in the department to follow these standards. You must ensure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement to the Engineering Manager and Health and Safety Manager. You will need to work autonomously deciding upon the correct escalation route for unscheduled plant downtime and minimise downtime through good decision making and delegation of engineering tasks. You'll manage the Engineering spend appropriately, escalating any areas of high or unscheduled spend to the Engineering Manager.
What you'll need to succeed
You'll hold a recognised maintenance / engineering apprenticeship and have extensive experience and demonstrable expertise in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing environment. You have full capability to diagnose and rectify unexpected faults in a timely manner. Your full electrical competence to safely replace basic electrical components such as Switches, dol 3 phase motors, lamps and sensors is essential as is your ability to work with industrial control panels and safety circuits. You will have experience in the maintenance and trouble shooting of manufacturing systems. You are self motivated & able to work on your own initiative.
