Nursery Practitioner

Friendly and well equipped nursery in the Sutton area require a Nursery Practitioner to work as a member of the nursery team to ensure that all children attending the setting receive high quality care, are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual need.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- To meet children educational, social, emotional, physical, intellectual and linguistic needs.
- To observe, monitor and accurately record the development of each child, in conjunction with their families and to share this information with other professionals.
- To establish and carry out comprehensive individual programmes for children including those with special needs in conjunction with the SENCO, their families and other professionals.
- Plan appropriately for children using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance.
- Ensure that children are kept safe and follow Child Protection Procedures.
- Ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are complied with.
- Comply with the statutory framework of the EYFS or relevant statutory regulation and legislation including the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
- Develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with other agencies that may visit the setting.
- Be a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families. Ensuring close monitoring of their progress to enable them to develop to their full potential.
- Work with the manager and inspectors during inspections by regulatory bodies and to assist in the implementation of any recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience

- Completion of a recognised Level 3 Childcare qualification, e.g. Level 3 Children & Young People's Workforce or Children's Care, Learning and Development or be working towards completion
- Previous experience of caring for or working with children in a voluntary or paid capacity.
- Knowledge of Every Child Matters and the EYFS.
