An exciting new opportunity has come up to work with a highly innovative and successful food manufacturing business based in Worthing. The Production Manager will report directly into the company directors and will be responsible for leading the Manufacturing operations. The main responsibilities of the Production Manager will consist of:

• Preparation of production and manning schedules based on sales forecasts/stock levels

• Organising the supply of temporary labour as required

• Ensuring that appropriate staff training is planned, provided and recorded

• Ensuring that production and quality procedures are followed

• Liaising with purchasing department to ensure availability of raw materials for production schedules

• Ensuring implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures

• Provide leadership, motivation and focus for all elements of production in particular Shift Managers

• Deliver against core KPIs seeking opportunities to improve performance at all times

• Be responsible for all aspects of health and safety within production and to ensure that H&S takes a high profile

• Review your production teams and structures, and to identify areas for change and improvement

• Ensure that appropriate systems are in place and are used to identify training and development needs to all production employees

• Develop a culture of continuous improvement across the site

• Managing up to 10-20 staff

• Be responsible for ensuring compliance with all legislation, company (and where appropriate customer) policies and requirements in respect of food safety, environment protection and health and safety within production

• Rotate and mange stock effectively through regular stock takes and stock control. Ensure that housekeeping checks are completed and monitored to ensure that system integrity is maintained as its custodian

• Drive product quality issues through Shift Managers. Support the QA team in ensuring all aspects of the QMS are implemented

• Guardian of the SALSA accreditation and preparation for all external audits.

The ideal candidate for the Production Manager position will have the following skills and experience:

• Production Management qualification or 5 years’ relevant experience

• Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment

• Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers

• Be flexible in working times to meet production requirements of the business

• Numerate and able to deal with labour and Material variants
