Maintenance Engineer job near Uttoxeter. Electrical bias. 4 on/4 off shifts. Salary £30k plus overtime.

Your new role
You'll optimise machinery output and product quality, and minimise plant downtime through effective preventative maintenance, efficient breakdown response whilst maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practice. You'll ensure that maintenance is carried out in line with the schedule and effective and efficient corrective action is taken. You've got a quick and effective response to breakdowns in more than one area on site, where possible identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurring. You'll communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Engineering Manager / Maintenance manager and work with the operations department to minimise plant disruption. You'll follow good engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department. You'll ensure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement to the Engineering Manager. Timely reporting of any Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental Issues are a key part of your role as well as following the communicated escalation route for unscheduled plant downtime.

What you'll need to succeed
You've got good knowledge of adjustments required for machinery and knowledge of likely breakdowns and causes for machinery. You will demonstrate and understanding of usual running conditions and capability to identify changes and irregularities which may affect performance immediately or at some time in the future.You'll be able to diagnose and rectify equipment failure modes outside normally expected modes while still seeking assistance in the time required. A formal engineering or maintenance qualification is not necessary but you should be able to demonstrate numerical and reasoning ability to meet entry level requirements for a technical apprenticeship. You will be passionate about your work and demonstrate an enthusiasm and willingness to learn which is second to none. Your self-motivation and drive will be evident in all that you do.
