We are currently recruiting a Procurement Officer, on a fixed term contract basis for 12 months. The role is based in York, working for a unique and extremely successful business based in the third sector. This is not a buyer role, but involves obtaining bids from prospective suppliers and requires someone with a background in such a tender management process. You will be experienced in establishing requirements and setting criteria, dealing with questions form bidders, publishing the bids and obtaining responses, then assessing the incoming bids against the criteria and liaising with the legal team to finalise contracts.
Core responsibilities of the role will be:
• Carrying out supplier reviews, ensuring the best value for money is achieved
• Developing a procurement policy and criteria by which to evaluate suppliers
• Developing procurement and contract documentation
• Ensuring compliance to legislation and company policy
• Negotiation and on-going liaison with suppliers
• Drawing up contracts, liaising with the legal team in doing so
• Ensuring all terms are agreed and formal processes/documentation are competed
• Formally advising unsuccessful bidders
• Participating in meetings, training and other processes across the wider business
The ideal candidate will be CIPS qualified of part-qualified, will have a proven background in procurement, and in particular, in carrying out supplier evaluations. You will have solid IT skills and will be a strong negotiator with the ability to secure the most cost-effective solutions for the business. You will have excellent project management skills and will be accustomed to managing budgets and working to tight deadlines and meeting targets.
This role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis and is expected to start around end of April or early May but with some flexibility on that timescale.
