Our clients are leading water supply companies in England and Wales - forward thinking, innovative and strongly rooted in the communities they serve. As part of an ongoing collaboration between the two companies they are seeking to recruit a Senior Buyer to undertake joint procurement activity across the full range of third party expenditure.

Depending on distance of travel the role will be based at either Redhill or Havant with regular travel between the two locations.

The main responsibilities will be to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, Senior Managers and their departments to ensure that specifications and procurement strategy meets the business requirements for direct and indirect spend categories as well as capital expenditure project work. Renegotiating existing collaborative frameworks, improving prices and terms of business with suppliers and reviewing opportunities to make business savings is also key; utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods to achieve this.

In this position you will develop and implement category strategy in line with business requirements and you be responsible for the tendering process from cradle to grave, in line with the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and The Utilities Contracts Regulations, subsequent supplier negotiations and contract award. Assisting with procurement strategies including the collaborative approach to supplier assurance and risk management, you will assess, evaluate and undertake supplier performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement.

Their ideal candidate must be able to form excellent working relationships and respect both internally across both of the businesses and their various departmental areas and externally with the existing and potentially new supplier base. Knowledge and application of "best in class" purchasing techniques to assist in the continuing development of the Procurement functions is essential.

They are welcoming applications from candidates who are educated to Degree/HND level or equivalent and a full Member of CIPs or working towards this qualification. Together with significant purchasing experience both commercially and technically; which will include working in a collaborative/partnership manner. Experience of the Utility industry or similar would be advantageous. With your excellent communication skills you will be confident, a keen negotiator and will have experience of building, maintaining supplier relationships and managing internal stakeholder relationships.
