We are currently recruiting for an experienced IT Support Technician to join a professional services organisation based in the centre of Leeds, working as part of a team, this is a varied role where you will be responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line support to internal staff in Leeds and other offices in the UK.

Duties will include:

  • 1st line support on all IT and communications issues
  • Log and track all day-to-day IT issues, resolving immediately where possible, or escalating as necessary to the 2nd/3rd line team or Service Desk Manager
  • Provide supplemental 2nd line/desk-side, telephone and occasional off-site support to all users, trouble-shooting problems and answering queries from staff
  • Monitor and coordinate usage of shared IT resources such as laptops and projector equipment, video and audio conferencing systems etc., providing advice and assistance on their use as required
  • Configure smartphone, tablet and laptop devices for issue to users
  • Configure desktop PC's for issue to users
  • Perform changes and moves of PC and telephone equipment
  • Assist with new hardware and software installation across the network
  • Assist with desktop software maintenance, including re-installation, configuration and upgrades
  • Monitor and maintain printer hardware, correcting configuration issues and installing maintenance kits promptly to ensure consistent operation
  • Monitor print/scan/copy systems across the network ensuring suitable supplies of consumables are maintained on-site, placing orders with the preferred supplier as required
  • Maintain other peripherals connected to the network, notifying the IT 2nd line team of any faulty hardware in need of replacement
  • Set up new user and computer accounts and disable/delete accounts no longer in use
  • Monitor Active Directory to ensure all computer and user accounts are named correctly and contain up to date telephone and contact information
  • Maintain records of new starters, including computer equipment set-up checklists
  • Reset passwords and troubleshoot user login issues
  • Monitor video-conferencing equipment to ensure consistent operation and assist users to connect video calls as requested
  • Set up laptop and projector equipment at various locations as requested
  • Maintain and update the IT inventory database, updating with new items and recording movements of hardware and software between different users and locations

Skills/experience required:

  • Recent technical working knowledge of some or all of the following: understanding of TCP/IP and popular networking topology's, Windows XP/7, Windows Server 2003/2008, Microsoft Office 2007/10, Sophos/McAfee or similar, Active Directory User and Computer administration, Signify RSA, 3G and WiFi, Blackberry and iPhone/iPad, Citrix/Remote Desktop/Terminal Services

Personal skills/experience required:

  • Strong "can do" approach, patient to understand the client's needs and willing to work with them in the most effective way to resolve queries, multitasking as necessary
  • Well organised, uses initiative, prioritises appropriately, applies self, shows attention to detail, manages own workload and meets deadlines
  • Excellent/proven administrative skills
  • Experience working within a professional services organisation
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills (respectful, positive, articulate, professional and sympathetic) at all levels
