Basingstoke College of Technology, located in North Hampshire, is a leading and well respected further education provider. The college prides itself on its excellent links with business and the success of its learners in securing positive destinations. Basingstoke is an expanding town with a thriving economy and excellent transport links.

The college was rated 'good with outstanding features’ in May 2016 by Ofsted and is committed to becoming an 'outstanding’ provider. Our financial health has consistently been rated 'outstanding’ over the last 10 years by the Skills Funding Agency. BCoT is a significant provider of apprenticeships, the achievement rates of our apprentices are significantly above the sector average and we have set ambitious growth targets up to 2020.

We have a vacancy for a suitably qualified payroll professional to head up our payroll function. Sitting within the HR team and reporting to the HR Manager, with the support of and HR and Payroll Administrator, you will oversee the processing of our monthly payroll for approximately 440 staff.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate high levels of accuracy and the ability to work under pressure to meet statutory deadlines and targets.

As a minimum, you will have 3 years payroll experience in a similar role and whilst a recognised payroll qualification is desirable, your expertise and knowledge gained from a comparable post will also be recognised.

The ability to process and make pensions returns is essential; at BCoT we service two pension funds depending on the employee’s role. Applicants with previous experience of the Local Government and/or Teachers Pension Scheme will be of particular interest.

In return we can offer excellent benefits. These include 28 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas closure, 13.1% employer’s contributions to the LGPS, free onsite parking, a retail benefits scheme and use of the college gym.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to be our payroll manager, please get in touch without delay. For an informal discussion about the role, please do not hesitate to contact our HR Manager, Malcolm Quiney, for more information after 23 April 2017.

BCoT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its learners, and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake appropriate checks, including an enhanced DBS disclosure as well as providing proof of right to work in the UK.

BCoT is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome enquiries from everyone and value diversity in our workforce.
