The Organisation:

BMC Recruitment Group are delighted to be assisting this growing organisation, operating in a niche industry with the recruitment of a Payroll Supervisor.

The Role:

Reporting in to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner.

Responsibilities will also include managing a small team, providing support with process improvements and pension’s administration.

  • Supervise the payroll team, assigning duties and responsibilities where necessary

  • Support and mentor the team, providing coaching and development where necessary

  • Overseeing the accurate and timely end to end processing of the monthly payroll, ensuring payroll deadlines are met

  • All new starters (and relevant information) is uploaded to Sage Payroll in the month

  • Review of month end payroll prior to financial controller approval, including production and review of analytical reports - highlighting key variances and statistical information

  • Ensuring payroll information is processed in accordance with procedure and to provide information for statutory returns (RTI and PAYE)

  • End of year processing and reconciliation including payment summaries (P60s/P11ds) Completion of month end tasks included

  • Complete P45 for all leavers

  • Respond to any tax related queries

  • Ensure that pension reports, including auto-enrolment, are produced and submitted to relevant providers

  • Ensuring that pension payments are processed in a timely manner

  • Posting of the monthly payroll into the accounting system

  • Reconciliation for the Control Account for PAYE, NI, Pension and Wages Control.

  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations in support of process improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness within the team

  • Ensure the recovery of advance/overpayments within the agreed time frame

  • Ensure any payroll related queries are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner

  • Identifying and escalating potential issues to Financial Controller

  • Act as key contact for external auditors for payroll and payroll tax related queries

The Individual:

  • Understanding of updated payroll legislation and procedures

  • Experience of Sage Payroll would be advantageous

  • Ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders

  • Good levels of IT (ability to use Spreadsheets)

  • Self-motivated individual with experience of leading a team would be desirable
