Job Title: Health & Safety Environmental Officer
Location: Leeds
Salary: Up to £30,000 dependent on experience + 3% flexible benefits + on target bonus of 5% + contributory pension

Occasional travel to support our sites in Leeds and Tolworth, Surrey is an essential requirement for this role.

We’re now looking for a Health & Safety Environmental Officer to join our growing team.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Implementing, managing and supporting the business with the development of Environmental policies and procedures needed to achieve the primary objectives within ISO14001
• Annual review of the Environmental Health & Safety policies and procedures
• Developing a comprehensive EHS inspection and risk assessment program and ensuring that assessments are completed and the results are acted on
• Working with site management and the Maintenance and Facilities Coordinator to devise routines to systematically check all Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules for all UK site services
• Promoting commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental practice throughout the UK business
• Ensuring compliance by third parties through a strong control of contractor process
• Leading communications on all H&S matters with all the workforce including tool box talks
• Induction of new employees and visitors to site regarding H&S
• Providing expertise on all EHS matters including Safety Committee meetings.
• Ensuring UK offices are compliant with the number of H&S reps, First aiders and Fire Marshalls
• Monitoring, measurement, testing and improvement of working practices and controls to gain and maintain ISO14001 standards
• Identifying, collating and analysing data and recommending strategies to improve EHS performance.
• Liaising with interested parties on environmental, health and safety matters, including: Regulatory bodies, Senior Management team and Departmental Managers, Contractors and suppliers, Insurance personnel and Safety committee members.
• Conducting all investigations of EHS incidents and accidents, subsequent reporting and implementation of any resultant actions.
• Advising on environmental, health and safety matters including new and existing legislation and assisting with the implementation of required internal changes to policy
• Co-ordinating day-to-day environmental, health and safety issues raised by members of staff.
• Be on call for any major incident requiring EHS support.
• Ensuring all records and paperwork are kept up to date for H&S and building maintenance.
• Escalating issues/feedback to the Head of Office Services.
• Oversight of the policy hub to ensure this is up to date and DSE ‘s rolled out
• Assisting the Head of Office Services with any other projects as required.

You’ll need to evidence the following experience, qualifications and skills:

Experience

• Environmental Management qualification would be advantageous.
• ISO14001 experience is essential
• Extensive experience of working within a similar role or industry.
• Demonstrable experience of working with environmental standards and regulations.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and law is essential

Qualifications:

• Maths & English GCSE A-C or equivalent or qualified by experience
• IOSH/NEBOSH qualification essential
