Job Title: Production Planner
Location: Birmingham
Salary: circa £23,000 - £25,000

My client, an engineering company which specialises in the manufacture of bespoke products is currently looking for a Production Planner to join the production planning team in order to coordinate 'timely' production planning on a daily basis to ensure assembly of equipment/machinery is maintained to schedule in line with Customer requirements to achieve high standards of on-time delivery.

Close liaison with shop floor assembly teams, order coordinators, purchasing, suppliers and other key members of Operations Team to support high overall standards of customer service is required. Provide fast resolution of supplier quality defects and parts returns.

Key responsibilities:

*To maintain and update the production schedule & EPR system in line with latest production and delivery status to ensure information is shared with the operations team and the wider business as required.
*To use the company ERP system to ensure parts shortages, stock losses or quality defects affecting the assembly of equipment are resolved quickly and effectively, for high standards of right first time, assembly efficiency and build completion on-time.
*To co-ordinate supply of 'just in time' (JIT) parts into assembly to ensure availability as required and to maintain an efficient production cell whilst managing shop floor space.
*To ensure any 'excess' parts for machine BOM's are identified and returned to stock, together with future BOM revised.
*To complete orders in line with production schedule and to co-ordinate packing and dispatch of finished goods as required.
*Responsibility for continuous improvement of production planning, logistics, stock control, assembly efficiency and expediting. Ensure efficient and best practice execution of processes.

The successful candidate will be required to establish good working relationships with colleagues and suppliers and therefore, the ability to communicate at all levels is essential.

The ideal candidate will have strong IT skills including advanced use of excel and experience using an ERP/ MRP system.
In addition, candidates are required to have previous experience within a relevant manufacturing environment using best practice production planning, stock control and expediting techniques.
The ideal candidate would be able to interpret engineering drawings however this isn't essential.
