2084AC Marine Engineer (1st and 2nd Engineers) We're currently looking for a Marine Engineer to join our client at their Hampshire office. Our client is an award-winning maritime firm who provide design and engineering services for the offshore renewable energy and marine industries. They serve a large variety of clients across both the UK and America, and are continuously expanding their staff and workload. As the selected Marine Engineer, your role will cover a range of duties, including technical, budget management, and financial responsibilities. This role will see you applying your technical expertise to influence design, construction and conversion of a variety of vessels for marine, offshore, defence and renewables-based projects. Reporting to the Project Director, you will participate in the design development, system design and evaluation of equipment specifications, and prepare product/system layouts and detailed drawings using both freehand and CAD design skills. You will also be responsible for developing specifications for new vessel designs and conversions, undertake plan reviews, and assist with bid preparation and project tendering liaison with the marketing and business development teams. Therefore it is essential you have relevant experience in order to confidently deal with this range of tasks. Key responsibilities: - Review legislations and regulations relevant to vessel design and construction - Monitor repairs, refits, conversions and new builds to ensure projects follow drawings and specifications to meet marine standards - Assist with design development and liaise with clients to ensure satisfaction - Keep records of meetings and agreements made with clients, shipyards, subcontractors etc. - Monitor progress of projects and report any issues to the Project Director - Maintain contact with other internal disciplines, operating companies, Regulatory Bodies, Professional Bodies etc. to continually monitor relevant developments - Keep up to date with marine engineering operational practices and provide feedback on performance of vessels in service - Act as a guide to assist with junior staff members Essential requirements: - Relevant marine engineering qualifications (Marine Engineering degree/Merchant Navy Engineer Certificate of Competency etc.) - Strong understanding of classification requirements and statutory regulations of IMO, SOLAS etc. - Experience in health and safety legislation regarding ship construction and operation - Ability to analyse engineering problems, determine technical solutions, and write detailed technical specifications - Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to meet set goals and deadlines - Good communication skills to build good client relationships and liaise with a range of internal and external figures This is a great opportunity for driven and determined individuals to make excellent career progression working for a highly-reputable client.
