Our Client; a Globally operating Tier 1 Automotive company that specializes in the supply and manufacture of high technology electrical and electronic components, supplying most of the major Automotive OEM's, are enjoying continued growth in terms of new projects. Given this rise in new business, their task now is to find an experienced Senior PCB Design Engineer (Electronic Instrumentation) on a permanent basis. Offering a competitive (albeit negotiable and dependent upon relevant experience) basic salary, together with a full and comprehensive benefits package, this role is available immediately.

Reporting to the EIBU Hardware Team Leader, you will take additional responsibility for the following:
-Designing of cost effective Printed Circuit Boards (PCB's).
-Liaison with outsourcing PCB suppliers.
-Supporting departmental development.
-Designing and developing electronic and instrumentation products for the Automotive markets.
-To continuously research, report and document the trends for Electronics in the European Automotive market.
-To develop suitable products/demonstration samples that can be used as marketing tools for demonstrating our Clients capability/experience or for evaluating new technologies.
-This department shall, where suitable in regards to resources, equipment, experience etc..., provide our Clients European sales offices with technical support for RFQ's, exhibitions, workshops and similar types of activities.

Qualifications and Experience ideally required:
-Should ideally be educated to Degree level in Electronic Engineering, although lesser qualifications with plenty of relevant experience may also be considered. Better still, you will be a Chartered Engineer and/or have a Master's Degree or PhD in an Electronics subject. A specialisation in Automotive Electronics at the very least.
-You will be an experienced PCB Design Engineer of Electronics components.
-It is desirable that you all have experience in Instrument Cluster design and/or Smart Junction Boxes and Body Electronics design, together with experience in the manufacturing of Electronic Control Units (ECU's).
-Excellent knowledge of PCB layout (Cadence Allegro and MG) needed.
-Able to demonstrate good problem solving skills (analytical).
-Very good knowledge of electronics components market cost levels (design to cost) needed.
-Good knowledge with hardware design tools for schematics capture and simulation (preferably ORCAD Capture, MG and PSPICE).
-Knowledgeable in the EMC field, especially best layout practice for EMC compliance.
-Knowledge of thermal management of power electronic devices at PCB level.
-Basic understanding of electronics software design and of mechanical design needed.
-Be fully conversant with core PC tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
-Good understanding of electronics manufacturing (design for manufacturing, design for testing) needed.
-Microprocessor for embedded applications knowledge desirable.
-Knowledge of LCD and display technologies desirable.
-Knowledge of PCB, Smart MOSFET and LED technologies desirable.
-Knowledge of communication protocols for the automotive market (eg CAN, J1850, LIN etc) desirable.
-DFMEA and FTA knowledge desirable.
-Should be prepared on occasion to travel nationally and internationally, be legally able to work in the UK and have a valid driving licence and passport.
