Business Development Executive (Media)

Location: Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham

Salary: £20,000 + generous commission earnings

About the company

Our client are an award-winning editorial and design agency based in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Their publications cover specialist directories, magazines, apps, web sites and e-newsletters on behalf of some the country's leading trade organisations in the construction and timber industries plus a range of leading medical journals on behalf of associations such the Royal College of Surgeons, the British Orthopaedic Association and the Faculty of Dental Surgery.

The role involves selling advertising across a number of our publications to a base of existing customers but also with the responsibility of generating new business accounts across the year.

Duties of the Business Development Executive (Media)

- Open and close leads
- Develop and maintain an on-going database of existing and potential new clients
- Initiate outbound cold calling to prospective clients
- Achieve sales targets

You will be working with an experienced team in well established, stable company who value experience, independence and creativity.

They provide all the market knowledge needed to be successful in the role but they need someone who has the necessary sales skills, can take responsibility and is self-motivated.

The role would be ideal for someone who is looking for a long term stable position in sales in an environment that fosters personal responsibility rather than relying on "over-zealous" sales management (all of their sales team have been with them for a number of years)

Requirements of the Business Development Executive (Media)

- Previous experience in media sales with demonstrable success, ideally covering B2B or medical publications.
- Ability to research and identify new business contacts. This is a major part of the role and you need to be comfortable knowing this skill will be essential to achieve success. Web based research skills will be a bonus
- Target driven with a high level of commercial awareness
- Strong written communication and sales skills
- Tenacious but ethical approach to sales
- Self-motivated and responsible with the maturity to achieve individual and campaign targets and meet deadlines.
