This role is for a highly motivated individual who understands and is able to provide analytical knowledge of involvement within a multi-purpose chemical and food grade production and storage facility.About the Company:With over 115,000 customers across 100 countries, we are a leading $10 billion global distributor of speciality consumables, food ingredients and chemicals serving the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and manufacturing industries.The Role:Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the South Kirkby site and be expected to maintain high levels of operational safety, operational standards and financial control. As site leader, you will be expected to adopt a ‘hands-on’ approach to ensuring all Production, Quality, Warehouse, Transport and Administration functions run smoothly and efficiently, maximising the service delivered to all internal and external customers.The site currently operates an extended day shift Monday to Friday only but is flexible to meet the demands of the business. Occasional travel to other facilities for meetings or training will be required or for customer visits in support of our sales teams.It is important that the successful candidate is able to provide food safety and Quality control knowhow due to the wide variety of products handled servicing the needs of different chemical business streams that are undertaken within the South Kirkby facility.You will be dedicated and thorough in ensuring that all of the objectives are met whilst striving for excellence within audits and customer visits.Key Responsibilities and Tasks:+ All site operational activity, including production, quality, warehousing, transport and administration.+ Recommend ways in which the company can improve profitability and operational effectiveness+ Through leadership and active involvement ensure compliance to :- Statutory requirements (Kosher / HACCP / HSE), Quality procedures (FSSC22000), Responsible Care and company policy statements including employment and disciplinary procedures and security which you will be expected to host and play an active part in ensuring that the site maintains its status.+ Experience in the relevant standards and ensuring compliance to these standards is a pre-requisite.+ Reviewing and updating when required processes and procedures for example Risk Assessments and HACCP studies.+ Be competent and analytically minded to provide cover in other functions as and when required to do so+ Complete administrative tasks within SAP when required+ To investigate and resolve where appropriate customer complaints+ Leading competent authority meetings as the site is a lower COMAH site and is therefore subject to scheduled visits from the competent authorities (HSE, Environmental Agency and the Local Authorities)We Are Looking For:+ You will be PC literate with experience of SAP systems, have excellent coaching, influencing and communication skills and have a "Can Do" customer centric approach.+ Engineering/Technical skills and knowledge around Storage tanks, filling equipment, tankers, pumps and pipes with process/Technical problem solving skills and knowledge around hazardous liquids would be beneficial.+ Ability to train others and take on the key roles within the Emergency Plan. Site Main controller, Incident controller etc.You will be an excellent hands-on manager who leads by example and is able to adapt quickly and effectively to operational issues. You will be outgoing and personable; a manager who takes pride in their work and develops others.The successful candidate will have good communication and people skills, an excellent eye for detail and able to work without supervision when required. It is essential that you are self-motivated, focused and flexible, you possess high levels of organisation and a willingness to learn. Experience in the knowledge of chemistry either through an A level or degree, and a background in quality is desirable.
