A role exists for an experienced contracts manager or senior site manager looking to progress. We are an SME multi trade contractor that undertakes a wide variety of projects in and around London for large contractors or as a principal contractor.

Current projects include

- Three-storey extension to a church in Barking & Dagenham where we are the PC
- Strip out, temporary works, ground works and a small extension with a brown roof to a hospital in South West London
- Investigative works to an 8th floor slab to a tower in Central London
- Rainscreen cladding and render to a hospital in West London
- Remedial sound proofing to a new build residential block
- Various internal fit outs including dry lining, ceilings, doors, flooring to projects in London / Essex / Herts

Role description

- Oversee multiple live projects, be the main customer-facing face of the organisation once a project has started
- Be comfortable with large corporate clients and the paperwork that such clients are likely to produce
- Be comfortable working as a main contractor or a multi trade subcontractor
- Put the direct labour force to work, be able to command their respect but give respect in return
- Understand and control project programme, adjust schedules as work progresses, order materials in timely fashion
- Management of project subcontractors
- Liaison with clients
- Understand the process of design queries, facilitate and investigate solutions, co-ordinate with client to obtain responses and instructions
- Be sufficiently skilled in aspects of construction to understand issues and be able to investigate and propose solutions. Know what you don't know and know how to go about finding the answer. Understand the building process, spot the buildablity or otherwise of clients requirements.
- Be commercially aware, spot variations, understand what we are contractually obliged to do and what is additional work
- Be able to communicate information to the project QS
- Be able to follow established workflow systems without inventing new ones
- Procurement of materials and plant for direct labour
- Monitoring and improving site procedures
- Author risk assessments and method statements prior to work commencing and during works where variations arise
- Monitoring and improving site supervisors health and safety standards
- Review health and safety standards as part of site visits

Skills and competencies

- Current role-appropriate CSCS card
- Be able to read and understand architects or engineers drawings and specifications
- IT skills to include basic MS Office and email, MS Project desirable but not essential
- Health and safety training that allows you to undertake risk assessments and method statements and an attitude that promotes compliance
- Clean driving licence
