Reed have been engaged by a Retail organisation located in Edinburgh to recruit for a Head of Commercial and Purchasing to join their highly commercial Edinburgh based team. The role is presented on a permanent basis and is paying between £55,000 - £75,000.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer you will sit on the Management Team who will have collective responsibility for deciding and implementing the company's strategic goals, act as the key point of contact for all suppliers and create and develop the trading strategy to achieve margin targets set in the business plan.

In addition, you will (but not limited to);

- Key stakeholder within the pricing team to develop pricing strategies, report competitive positions and improve margin/sales
- Organise and chair periodic supplier review meetings at director/senior management level
- Negotiate short and long term commercial agreements with suppliers, contributing to improved margins as set out in the business plan
- Maintain commercial planning and forecasts, dovetailing into business reporting timelines
- Create robust commercial agreements with suppliers and maintain an auditable library of agreements
- Provide the business with weekly forecast on rebate performance, evaluating all variables involved
- Maintain a rebate library by brand/supplier and product category that feeds the rebate reporting system
- Manage key supplier/brand sales and product mix dovetailing into the trading strategy
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create brand promotions and ensure contractual commitments with suppliers are delivered
- Develop and maintain supplier scorecards, monitoring and improving supplier performance
- Develop and maintain a Trading dashboard to highlight weekly performance and expedite solutions for any underperformance
- Work closely with the Head of Supply Chain to schedule projects and developments, creating business cases for IT development
- Report and monitor sales conversion and delegate actions to the wider trading team to find solutions
- Hold periodic range reviews to audit the existing process, revising and introducing algorithms that maintain the range policy
- Line Management responsibility for the Trading team, ensuring delivery of the trading strategy

Ideally, you will have significant experience in conducting advanced negotiations with senior stakeholders, have advanced knowledge of data analysis and hold advanced commercial planning skills.
