Head of Operations (Woodworking Industry Warehouse Manager)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Operations to join our busy Operations team at Trend Machinery and Cutting Tools Ltd, the UK's leading supplier of Trade and DIY power tool accessories to the woodworking construction sector.
The Business has seen significant growth over recent years and to build on that success we are looking for a highly driven individual to lead and transform the department with excellent negotiation skills to achieve the best prices from suppliers and proven leadership experience to run a warehouse operation.
This is a newly created role that will have the overall responsibility for the areas of procurement, assembly, goods in and despatch, and will report to the Managing Director.
Ideally we are looking for an experienced, senior supply chain manager who has worked in a warehouse environment and is used to managing supplier relationships, setting strategy and capable of motivating and inspiring a team to achieve results and strive for continuous improvement.
It would be expected that the successful candidate would have excellent communication skills, be proficient in their use of computer, ERP and MRP systems and be a competent problem-solver. A CIPS qualification or similar would be an advantage, along with a good knowledge of health and safety within a warehouse environment.
The key role responsibilities include:·overall responsibility for the running of the Operations function to deliver an efficient and cost effective service ·designing, developing, implementing and reviewing all policies and procedures relating to the Operations function·providing strategic direction for the Operations function through development of the Operations Plan aligned to the Company’s Business Plan and Objectives·proactively encouraging and identifying continuous improvement to ways of working within Operations through regular reviews and trouble-shooting diagnostics·involvement in supply negotiations with key suppliers to secure best terms available ·responsibility for supply and service agreements being in place with key suppliers and performance and standards being achieved·setting, managing and monitoring KPI targets for the Operations function and driving team performance to achieve them·reviewing performance of electronic systems, software and business processes within Operations and recommending changes and improvement ·responsibility for ensuring robust ERP/MRP systems are in place ·ensuring that best value and service delivery for both freight inwards and freight outwards is negotiated with suppliers ·overseeing management of product issues to ensure a speedy resolution·carrying out project work in relation to the support and development of new or alternative products ·overseeing the continuous development and regular review of departmental quality controls and procedures·responsible for the management and development of direct reports·managing the Operations functions’ budgets·overall responsibility for the health and safety of the warehouse/operations function and actively seeking new ways to improve health and safety measures ·project management of operations’ projects including warehouse relocation/reorganisation, dispatch reorganisation, investigation and implementation of ERP/MRP systems etc.·co-ordinating and managing the annual Company Stock Take
