Acorn is seeking a Maintenance Fitter for a respected manufacturing organisation in Newport, South Wales due to continual growth.

Salary: Dependent on skills and experience,plus overtime and shift premium (as and when applicable).

Shifts: 06:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 20:00 rotating shift pattern with flexibility to meet the demands of the business.

The Maintenance Fitter will be responsible for supporting manufacturing by maintaining equipment on breakdowns and carrying out planned preventative maintenance as per schedules.

Primary responsibilities:

- Compliance with company environmental, health and safety procedures.

- Completion of Planned preventative maintenance tasks.

- Maintenance / repair of equipment in breakdown situations.

- Ensure highest levels of housekeeping and cleanliness whilst working.

- Liaise across all areas of the organisation to achieve production priorities.

- Issuing of work permits for site contractors and ensuring contractors are operating in accordance with site rules.

Skill requirements:

HNC or City & Guilds qualification in an engineering discipline or equivalent. Relevant industry experience through an apprenticeship would also be considered.

- Strong Mechanical Engineering background in a busy manufacturing environment.

- Problem solving and fault finding expertise.

- Experience in hydraulic / pneumatic controls.

- Machining, welding, advantageous.

- Some knowledge and experience of robots would be an advantage but not essential as relevant training given.

- Electrical experience would be an obvious advantage but not necessary.

- General operating knowledge of health and safety.
