Acorn Recruitment is searching for an Accounts Assistant to join our client based in Workington, Cumbria.

The purpose of the role is to maintain the company's general ledger, plant and asset register in respect of the financial transactions.

Duties will include posting purchase invoices to the appropriate supplier's accounts in accordance with the invoice approval procedure.

Other responsibilities

- Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts.
- Raise and post sundry sales.
- Regularly file all authorised and posted invoices.
- Report on controllable costs monthly; provide cost information as requested and action any queries.
- Complete journal postings as necessary and deal with financial queries and investigations.
- Help with the preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Assist with the preparation of the companies interim and annual statutory accounts.


The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years nominal ledger experience coupled with a sound knowledge of accounting principles. It is essential that applicants have a proven work history within a manufacturing business and are familiar with SAP.

Hours of work are: Monday to Friday 38hrs per week

Salary: £18-£22k depending on experience.
