Projects Development Director - Bath

A community based housing supplier in Bath are seeking a Projects Development Director to join their team.

This is a unique opportunity which requires significant knowledge and expertise in the property development arena, coupled with strategic thinking and the ability to turn this thinking into clearly defined deliverable outcomes. Relationship and stakeholder management skills will be vital to take advantage of the growing network of interested parties in the City.

The Role

The successful Projects Development Director will be required to:

  • Work with the Head of estates to identify and realise increased value/income from identified property assets.
  • Contribute to the development of a vision and strategy for the estates which ensures it fulfils its role in the ambitions for the future, including looking at opportunities to work in partnership with others in this field
  • Advise on and develop options for areas for potential future investment or development so that the assets of the charity continue to support its aims
  • Take a leading role in identifying potential new sites for acquisition and development, in order to fulfil the organisations ambitions to develop a state of the art care village
  • Develop robust business cases for our key developments
  • Work with the CEO and Property Committee to negotiate heads of terms where necessary
  • Lead development projects to successful completion and appoint such professional teams as necessary to deliver.
  • Prepare and present final project reports comparing project outcomes to the initial business cases and identifying lessons learned in order to inform future projects. Following completion of projects hand over the day to day management to the Estates Team
  • Initially, this role will be 2-3 days per week, with the potential to rise to full time.

The Person

The successful Projects Development Director will have :


  • Financial Management
  • Strategic Planning
  • Stakeholder management
  • Experience of managing complex property development
  • Experience of adding significant value to property portfolios
  • Experience in the third sector would be helpful but is not essential

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree at 2:1 level or above
  • Membership of The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Understanding of issues with listed/historic buildings
  • Ability to create detailed business cases and project plans
