British Transport Police (BTP) have an exciting opening for a Head of CIO Office to join us on a permanent basis. As the Head of CIO Office with BTP you will support the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and wider Technology teams in delivering a number of key business, operational, technological and strategic goals and objectives across the Force. You will provide a senior level of business support as directed by the CIO to the Chair and the Chief Executive of the British Transport Police Authority (BTPA) as well as the Chief Officer Group (COG) members in order to develop and maintain effective working relationships and interfaces between BTP and the BTPA.

Key challenges for the Head of CIO Office includes:

- Exercise considerable judgement with the responsibility of providing policy advice with regards to Force wide issues and providing responses to internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the CIO and the Senior Management Team (SMT).

- Ensure strategic planning of business objectives, innovating, leading and implementing change to improve performance whilst taking responsibility for ensuring the Technology / CIO Department are accountable and compliant in discharging their duties.

- Initiate investigation and development on innovative methods of exploiting ICT assets, to the benefit of the organisation and members of the public who need our services.

- Ensure the Architecture team regularly engages with the business in strategic conversations, helping to shape business and ICT Strategy.

- Conducting research and special projects and assures implementation of programmes and/or projects initiated by the CIO

- Review new business proposals and provides specialist advice on compliance, audit and finance issues.

The successful applicant will be required to evidence the following:

- Educated to degree level in a specific IT or Business discipline and/or equivalent experience in an equivalent role

- ITIL Foundation

- Prince2 Foundation

- Accountancy / Budget experience and /or qualification

- GDS/CCS and procurement experience of dealing with government frameworks

- Significant evidenced experience in developing and driving operational business strategies for effective delivery of IT governance within a complex organisation.

- Demonstrable experience of managing teams within complex technical / matrix environments.

- Strong understanding and passion for 'getting it right first time', with the ability to identify potential opportunities that will benefit the organisation and better enable delivery of the corporate strategy and CIO office/duties.
