Our client, a global automotive manufacturer with an iconic brand, has made available a contract post for a Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Brakes Refinement Engineer to be based at their Gaydon location, offering up to £20.45 per hour (umbrella or limited company contractor basis).

Key Responsibilities of the Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Brakes Refinement Engineer

  • The Brakes Refinement Engineer will work within the Brakes Refinement Team assisting in target setting and vehicle tuning to meet performance targets for the brake refinement attribute.
  • Using industry standard NVH measurement systems for on-vehicle and test rig acoustic analysis.
  • Benchmark competitor vehicles, including development of any new tests required to characterise the refinement attributes of the brake system.
  • Assist in the development of modelling techniques for early identification of Brake refinement issues.
  • Ensure that new Chassis & Brake designs are compatible with brake refinement targets.
  • Participate in CAE, Brakes Dynamometer and early prototype vehicle pre-development loops to install refinement counter-measures before the main prototype build phases.
  • Work closely with other teams, especially within Chassis Engineering to identify cost effective solutions to any Brake refinement issues.
  • Will be expected to support vehicle testing at various locations, generally within the UK and Spain.

Qualifications and Experience required for the Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Brakes Refinement Engineer

  • Experience in the use of industry standard NVH measurement systems for data collection and analysis (e.g. LMS, Test.lab, HEAD Artemis, Link)
  • NVH Issue resolution in an engineering context
  • Full UK Cat B Driving Licence and test / development driving experience on a proving ground or public road
  • NVH Issue resolution in an engineering context
  • Degree in Acoustics, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, demonstrating a bias towards Acoustics

Preferred Qualifications and Experience for the Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Brakes Refinement Engineer

  • An understanding of related Chassis systems, such as suspension structures
  • Knowledge of automotive brake system design and the ability to identify the specifications that influence Braking attributes including performance and refinement
  • Experience of vehicle test and subjective evaluation
  • 2 years Post graduate experience in a similar role for an automotive OEM or 1st tier supplier
  • Experience in the use of 6-sigma disciplines
  • Ideally trained to Green Belt level
