Job Scope

In line with the our Hotel policies and procedures, provide a pro-active and re-active maintenance service to the hotel kitchens, restaurants and associated areas, following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), under the guidance of the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Chief Engineer and the Engineering Supervisor.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·With the Executive Chef and the kitchens Health and Safety representative ensure all statutory training is carried out and recorded within the set time limits.

·Protect the assets of the hotel and company to include any items of uniform and company tools issued.

·To ensure Water supplies and drainage systems throughout the kitchens, restaurants and associated toilet areas are maintained & checked on a regular basis.

·To maintain all catering/cooking appliances within the constraints of the role whilst not affecting personal safety or that of others.

·To maintain all refrigeration equipment within realms of capability and to act as first point of call for breakdown challenges

  • To be responsible for maintaining stock of spares needed to carry out the specific job functions
  • ·To be able to make best business decisions to seek external assistance for breakdown and routine servicing of specialist equipment (including Gas appliances) and act accordingly.

    ·Liaise with the Head Chefs of each kitchen on a daily basis to establish if there are any challenges with their respective areas that require attentions.


    -To carry out any reasonable request made by management.

    -Attend company and departmental training sessions as requested.

    -Accept any reasonable changes or additions in work hours that are necessary for the maintenance of uninterrupted service to hotel guests and patrons.

    -On occasions, participate within the operation of the emergency attendance call-out facility.

    -On Occasions, participate with the Shift Engineer cover when business needs dictate.

    -To have basic understanding of all other areas of operation within the Engineering department.

  • Protect the assets of the hotel and company to include any items of uniform and company tools issued.
  • Provide a personal hand tool kit with relevant tools needed for the job.
  • When required, provide utility Meter Readings of Electricity, Gas & Water
  • -To take ownership in keeping all working areas safe and tidy in order to create a safe working environment.
