My Client is looking for a Production Manager to join them at their Bedfordshire location. As the company looks to grow its UK business over the next five years, it sees new opportunities to partner with the UK government to meet the country's global defence and security needs.

Working Hours
Week 1 Mon - Thur 8.30am - 5.30pm. Fri 8.30am - 4.00pm
Week 2 Mon - Thur 8.30am - 5.30pm. Fri Day off
Lunch break 30 mins each day

My client has become known as a leading UK defence engineering company, delivering on a broad range of contracts for the MoD, prime contractors across the wider UK market and international defence ministries.

Specific Job Description
The Production Manager will get the opportunity to manage the day to day activities of the production team to deliver the manufacture, assembly, integration and test of complex hardware on time to cost and quality. You will also need to ensure a safe working environment and adherence to company and legislative requirements, processes and procedures. Lead the team to implement a culture of safety and improvement.

The Production Manager will help shape the vision and strategy, develop and execute long range plans to align and deliver the manufacturing aspects of the business LRP. This will include leading through lean manufacture to achieve operational excellence in safety, quality, utilisation, yield and cost management. Implement best practice throughout the operation.

The Production Manager will get to show their leadership skills and will get to coach and develop a culture of continuous improvement and performance excellence.
You will also get to coordinate employee recruitment, selection, training and development. Manage performance, absence, work assignments, salary, recognition and reward, disciplinary actions. Create the budget requirements and manage spending to overhead allocation. Shape and manage the cost and delivery of manufacturing capital projects.

Required skills, qualifications and experience
*The candidate will have demonstrable industry experience in electrical and/or similar advanced manufacturing environments
*Will have demonstrated lean manufacture and operational excellence skills
*Key to this role is excellent process focused leadership, coaching, communication and influencing skills across all levels of the business.
*Stakeholder management skills
*Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities
*An agent for change with proven experience of business change management
*Excellent Microsoft skills. Experience of MRP system - SAP is desirable

There is already 6-8 Electrical Assembly Technicians in the team. This is a functional role to manage the day to day activities of the production team. A varied position that includes leading the technical delivery of the team, supporting the strategy development, developing continuous improvement process, coaching, supporting recruitment.
