Key Account Manager – Retail


Job Summary:
To oversee and assist with retail sales accounts and commercial projects on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that they run smoothly and achieve their full potential. (UK and Global)

Having daily contact with distribution partners and customers is a key part of the role. A Key Account Manager is expected to pitch to clients, so a confident and positive attitude is necessary to maximize company potential. Reporting to the Head of Retail, this role will involve assisting in the training and management of junior member of the sales team. You will be required to present both internally and externally in relation to the sales strategy and budget.

This is an office-based role that will require you to spend time in both in the UK and possibly overseas for meetings and tradeshows.

You will be based in Brixton, South London with regular travel required


Key Responsibilities


The day-to-day management of key retail sales accounts and generation of new leads in the UK and global markets

To possess pro-active and positive attitude that encourages the whole team

To pick up the workload of others in their absence where required and manage this into their own schedule

Generating reports and updates on a monthly basis for the whole company

Regular individual review of sales versus budget and attending monthly sales v budget meeting with Head of Retail

Review key accounts on at least a monthly basis and follow up on all issues/decline

Arrange and attend regular meetings and calls with key accounts to present NPD and review sales and range plans for the months ahead

Pitching fresh and innovative ideas to key accounts – including POS and Marketing with assistance from relevant Marketing contact

Completing projects to a specific time frame and within an agreed budget

Manage both commercial projects and tradeshows and liaise with all teams to ensure the project runs smoothly

Regular review of the relevant retail agreements

Maintaining all brand, NPD and UK/Global retail presentations for new leads, business reporting and general day to day use

Regular communication and liaison with Head of Retail

Assisting in the training and management of junior members of the Sales Team

Liaise with the PR and Marketing Teams to ensure all customers are kept up to date with seasonal campaigns, marketing spend per account and point of sale options

Liaise with the Creative Team to ensure that there is strong communication with regard to NPD and receive regular updates regards any exclusive lines for retail partners
Liaise with Operations team regarding bespoke or relabeling requirements for retail partners

Liaise with Social Media team with regards to promotion of specific retail partners or exclusive retail partner product

Dealing with account admin when necessary including new line forms, presentations, salon orders and customer enquiries.

Person Specification

The candidate must have experience of working in a commercial environment and must demonstrate a high standard of sales management, organisational and communication and negotiation skills
At least 2 years’ experience within an account management role
A proven track record in sales and account management
An excellent commercial eye and strong knowledge of the beauty industry
Ability to maintain a positive, can-do attitude in all scenarios
