We are currently recruiting for a UK based licensed waste management company. Working throughout the United Kingdom with selected partners, they offer a complete and professional service to organise, identify, transport and legally dispose of a range of industrial and commercial wastes. They provide advice and consultancy supported by good quality, cost effective products and equipment.

Role:
The SHEQ Advisor will be in charge of the safety, health environment, and quality assurance side of the business, to support and advise the Management Team on quality legislation, best practice and recommended procedures, firstly to implement these across the business and help to continually improve standards and performance.

Responsibilities

General Duties
* To strive for continuous improvement, including offering ways of making the company work load less, whilst increasing profitability and a general proactive work ethic.
* Where required, including management request, to liaise with both customers and suppliers to ensure effective ongoing working relationships.
* To use effective time management skills.
* To assist with daily office running operations, e.g. answering the main landline phone, ensuring work spaces are kept clear for fire drills etc.
* To be available, within a reasonable capacity, outside of office hours for calls via company mobile, between operatives and management.
* Be available for differing tasks as and when needed by management (such as individual reports for customer needs)
* Assist with monitoring the bespoke database and amalgamating statistics to ensure streamlined figures

Principal responsibilities
* Determines the strategic direction and work priorities (in conjunction with line management) for the continuous improvement of the SHEQ management programme and systems.
* Advises line management and assists with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections of Company and contractors sites.
* To complete audits on a regular basis and ensure records maintained of same.
* To investigate accidents and ensure all documentation is updated.
* To develop a monthly SHEQ communication plan for all sites and levels of staff, to include written information, tool box talks and management briefs.
* Full responsibility for Company preparations for annual H&S audits and Quality Assurance
* Liaison with HR Dept. for initiating and coordinating training plan and updating information for personal and audit requirements.
* To assist in retaining all current quality accreditations and work towards the attainment of new quality accreditations.
* Advises line management of health, safety, quality and environmental matters and manages this process to ensure all advice is incorporated into day to day processes and operations.
* Provides support and expertise to line management in incident investigation and reporting (including dangerous occurrences and occupational diseases).
* Facilitates all forms of risk assessment e.g. general, manual handling, COSHH, fire prevention and acts as a final authority where a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others on site.
* Conducts occupational health and safety related surveys e.g. noise, lighting, exposure to chemical substances and makes associated recommendations.
* Produce and coordinate the yearly SHEQ action plan with monthly updates
* Monitors the Site "permit-to-work" system to ensure compliance with Company standards.
* Assists with tender/submission documentation.
* Use ELAS software to support day to day H&S requirements
* Achieving agreed targets and KPI's.
* Ensuring that the subcontractor data base is managed to assure both legal and commercial obligations.

Key interfaces
All Site personnel, including front line and management staff and contractors, Internal/external auditors and regulatory bodies
