My client is a specialist instrumentation company based in Thame and they are looking to recruit a Buyer with a technical mind to join their small in-house team.

Working for the Procurement and Logistics Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for procuring and expediting parts, components and services within a fast-paced, high-tech business. The buyer will use the company's ERP system to identify items to order, raise the order on the supplier to meet the demand requirements, contact suppliers to expedite orders and chase late orders. The ability to source ad-hoc items to support production and non-production items will be required.

The buyer is also expected to build and develop supplier relationships with approved suppliers. The monitoring of supplier returns and procurement of replacement or reworked goods is also an important part of the role.

Duties will include:

Use of ERP to identify components, parts of services to procure; review ERP suggestions to ensure they are correct and alleviate any ambiguities; raise and place orders with suppliers; expedite orders on a regular basis to ensure they will be delivered in time; chase late orders with suppliers to improve delivery; work with engineers to determine technical requirements; using ERP process return goods to suppliers; maintain good working relationships with suppliers and develop KPIs; resolve invoice queries as required; seek to make savings when and where possible; will be required to work in stores on occasions; will be required to carry out other administrative duties on occasion as specified by management.

Essential skills:
Previous experience of working in purchasing or in a similar role is essential; previous experience of using an ERP system (Winman preferred) but not essential; previous experience of using email in a working environment and good communication skills; technically minded; diligent and pays attention to detail; team player who enjoys working in a dynamic environment.

In return, my client is offering a salary between 20 - 23K depending on previous experience, excellent benefits including defined contribution pension, life cover and family healthcare, 26 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays.
