Do you have experience of working within a licensing or regulatory job? Are you looking to move into a position that will offer a stable 2 year contract covering secondment? Can you attend interviews within the next 2 weeks and start asap? Yes??? So, I am recruiting for a licensing officer to join a team within a local authority. This is a 2 year contract that will be covering a secondment period, however for the right person, there will be future opportunities.

To be considered for this job, you will need to have some experience of working within a licensing or regulatory role previously. If you feel your experience has transferable skills, but they are not directly within a licensing role, please still apply so we can contact you to discuss. On a day to day basis, you will be assisting with all aspects of the council's license functions and the associated administration from end to end. This will include;
*Accepting and reviewing applications for a variety of licenses including; taxi and private vehicle hire, alcohol and entertainment, gambling, street trading and other legislative licenses required
*Processing the information whilst keeping all systems up to date
*Booking appointments for license holders to attend review application and review meetings
*Making decisions about license applications in accordance with relevant acts and laws
*Meet with license holders (specifically taxi and private vehicle hire) to assess and issue license
*Review any relevant history relating to licenses that may lead to applications being declined
*Prepare reports for line manager relating to department stats
*Issue license where appropriate
*Writing statements to support licenses being evoked
*General administration and document management as required

Essential skills and experience;
*You will be required to have an outstanding level of communication on a verbal, written and face to face basis.
*Strong IT skills are essential for this role along with experience of completing reports
*Ability to work methodically and in an organised manner
*Outstanding attention to detail due to the nature of licensing information being processed
*A working knowledge of the licensing act 2003 and gambling act 2005 would be an advantage, however this is not essential if you have other qualities that are very relevant
*Able to process cash transactions
*Must have a full driving license

This is a 2 year contract covering secondment, however there may be other opportunities for the right candidate. You must display the required skill and experience to be considered for the opportunity, or have very relevant and transferable skills from either a licensing, legal or regulatory environment.
