Part of a major international group, this organisation is setting up a new manufacturing facility on a 'green field site' in Telford to produce complex high value components for the automotive industry. As a Quality Technician your role will be to establish best practice quality processes and methodology to ensure world class productivity and competitiveness can be achieved within a brand new production facility.

Quality Technician (CMM/ Metrology/ Materials/ X-Ray)
Salary to £30000
Location: Telford

As a Quality Technician will ensure the reliability and consistent performance of the dimensional and material measurement equipment during production and be heavily involved with new product launch activities with respect to programming and helping to design fixtures.

Key duties
o Perform dimensional and material quality checks of complex components using CMM, X Ray, Tensile Testing, Hardness Testing, Spectography and hand held metrology equipment.
o Support deliverables in the APQP process for new product launch
o Validate product quality requirement for tool buyoff and all prototype build phase
o Coordinate engineering changes during launch.
o Comply with the MSA requirements and QMS Control of Non conformance Management
o Operate all quality laboratory and measuring equipment (i.e. Microscope, Tensile Machine, X-ray, Hardness Tester, Spectrometer, Blister Oven)

You will already have a proven track record working as a Quality Inspector, CMM Operator/ Programmer or Quality Technician working within a high volume manufacturing facility, preferable automotive.
o C&G or HNC in an Engineering/ Science related subject
o Background in a Precision Engineering industry such as a Machine Shop or Casting/ foundry environment.
o Knowledge of MSA, SPC, APQP and PPAP process within a TS16949 or ISO9001 quality management system
o Experience using and operating metrology equipment including CMM, X Ray machines, material testing, spectrometers and hand held measurement equipment.
o Strong analytical and problem solving skills
o Able to work shifts and travel overseas for training (infrequently)

The opportunity:
The role is based in Telford and is commutable from Wolverhampton, Stafford, Cannock, Shrewsbury areas. Initially working on days, the role will require working on a flexible shift pattern when the facility is running at full capacity.
