Our client is one of the largest privately owned suppliers of steel fabricated products in the UK. Customers range from multi-national OEMs to small start-ups.
The ISO 9001:2000 accredited factory has complete pre-production design and prototyping facilities meaning that they are able to take a basic idea or drawing and turn it into a product that can be fully manufactured and productionised. They benefit from all the latest manufacturing techniques and equipment including CAD CAM systems, laser profiling, forming, CNC machining and both manual and robotic welding.
They now have an opportunity available for a Buyer to join them to improve company profitability by reducing procurement costs; working with existing and new Supply Partners to drive savings through negotiation while minimising supply-chain risk.
Identifying opportunities to consolidate the number of supply chain partners while maintaining product quality and service, you will work to reduce supply chain costs to continuously improve profitability and build and maintain good relationships with supply chain partners.Understanding and minimising Supply chain risks; including contractual risk, reputational risk, regulatory and ethical risk, you must be able to quickly analyse data to identify issues and opportunities and see these through to completion; managing your own time effectively and keeping to schedules.

Working as an individual and part of a team, candidates must have a track record of cost savings and the ability to deliver effectively to deadlines.With a proven background in Procurement and with strong commercial awareness, you must be able to develop and execute Procurement strategy and have exceptional negotiation and networking skills.Although not essential, experience of SAP, commodity buying such as steel and an understanding of inward shipping, customs and import duties would be beneficial.
Working hours: Mon to Thurs 07.30 – 17.30 – on a rota basis a Friday morning (07.30 -11.30) will be worked. Where a Friday is worked, the following Monday is reduced by 4-hours.
