PHP Developer (PHP, SQL, MVC)

Our client, an award winning digital licensing company are searching for a talented PHP Developer (PHP, SQL, MVC) to join their technical team in West London.

This PHP Developer (PHP, SQL, MVC) will be responsible for high level development. It is a chance for a PHP Developer (PHP, SQL, MVC) to work in a highly technical team on the release of both internal and public websites.

Requirements: PHP Developer (PHP, SQL, MVC)
  • Strong PHP and MySQL
  • Advanced knowledge of object orientated development
  • Advanced knowledge of MVC code separation
  • Good knowledge of complex frameworks such as Symfony2 or Zend2
  • Good knowledge of the nuts and bolts that make them work: synchronous (Form-based submission, validation, processing) and asynchronous message passing (AJAX, JSON, DOM manipulation), multi-user site management, permission and access control systems
  • Good knowledge of modern web APIs and the techniques used to code against them
  • Good knowledge of relational database design, foreign keys, optimisation using indexes
  • Good knowledge of test frameworks, setting up and maintaining a test infrastructure, developing well tested code
  • Basic Linux-based deployment (on LAMP stacks)
  • Basic project management skills, specifically how to capture requirements, specify, manage and deliver reliable technical projects
  • Experience working in a multi-functional team, alongside project managers, designers, front-end developers and systems administrators and ability to communicate with non-technical staff
  • Team management skills are not required, but the ability to work well with others, report on progress and clearly articulate problems is important


The ideal PHP Developer (PHP, SQL, MVC) candidate will also have:

  • Good experience with developing, testing and maintaining APIs
  • Knowledge of building large-scale web applications
  • Good knowledge of Wordpress
  • Good knowledge of a recognised project development process (e.g. Agile, Waterfall)
  • Basic knowledge of SQL Server
  • Good knowledge of CentOS or other RHEL-family Linux, including skills such as package deployment, configuration, log analysis, SELinux, iptables
