TOFS is a registered, UK-based, small charity dedicated to providing emotional support to families of children (and adults)born with Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula, Oesophageal Atresia and associated conditions.
This role is a new one, complementing our existing two part-time staff. The focus is on helping TOFS to greatly improve its management, dissemination and utilisation of non-financial information, working especially with the TOFS Database and Website. Familiarity with the use of modern IT (Windows 10, Office 365) is essential, but this is not a “technical” IT role. Full job description available upon request.
The role is office-based and principally inward-facing. However the job holder will have significant contact with the Trustees, who are actively involved in the day-to-day activities of the charity, and some contact with TOF/OA families. Indeed the job-holder, whilst having no-one reporting to them, will be expected to take part in and sometimes lead a number of ad-hoc groups of Trustees, other volunteers and staff in order to pool expertise and to generate, document and then implement sensible proposals.
TOFS is a small charity and can offer a lot of flexibility as to working hours, holiday arrangements and (for established staff) some degree of working from home. However we also demand some flexibility from our people in terms of occasional travel to and participation in weekend / evening events, and occasional evening teleconferences. Staff must be team players. Staff also need to be able to handle changing situations and generally cope with the dynamics of a small organisation that has a committee of volunteers in charge! For this post, we expect a minimum of 22 hours per week.
TOFS will endeavour to make any necessary reasonable adjustments to the job and the working environment to enable access to employment opportunities or continued employment for any employee who develops a disabling condition.
The TOFS office is currently located in a modern community centre in Netherfield, Nottingham, and there are no plans to move. However if the office should relocate within the greater Nottingham area, the post holder would be expected to commute to that new location at their own expense.
Our standard full-time working week is 37 hours. Full-time employees have 20 days paid holiday per year, which rises by 2 days after 7 years’ service. Part time employees have a pro-rata leave allowance. TOFS offers the Workplace Pension to its employees.
Applicants must be British or otherwise be able to clearly demonstrate that they have the long-term right to live and work in the UK. Preference will be given to those applicants who have a full UK driving licence and are happy to use their own car (with reimbursement from TOFS) for occasional travel to TOFS events.
Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 21st April at the Netherfield Office in Nottingham. Full job description is available upon request by calling the TOFS office on 0115 961 3092. However, our office will be closed for the bank holiday, therefore please also feel free to text 07749 298394 with your email address and we will send the job description directly to you.To apply, send in a CV and covering letter by email explaining how and why you feel that your knowledge, skills and experience would enable you to do this job well. Applications will close at 09:00 on Monday 17 April. Please also state your preferred number of working hours per week (from 22 hours - 37 hours - negotiable). The post is currently offered on a 2 year minimum contract length
