Housekeeper - Southampton - £8.41 p/h including holiday

Your new company

Southampton City council are looking for Housekeepers to work in their 2 Dementia Care Homes.

Your new role

You will be working as a Housekeeper in one of the 2 Dementia Care Homes based in Bitterne and Thornhill in Southampton. The shifts are on a weekly rota basis with the Care Homes needing various shifts 7 days a week within the hours of 7.30am to 6.30pm each day. Your shifts will include weekdays and weekends and morning and afternoon shifts. We need reliable candidates who have had Housekeeping experience, preferably within a care home environment but this is not essential.

In the role you will need to provide a courteous and efficient service ensuring all health, safety and hygiene rules and procedures are followed at all times.

Your duties will include

Daily cleaning of the lounge, dining rooms, bedrooms, stairs, landings, office areas, bathrooms, toilets and showers. Assisting resident to make beds, and in times when residents are not able, to make the bed and at the same time, if appropriate, empty the commodes. Cleaning the floors, wiping down walls and paintwork, vacuum upholstery, curtains, curtain rails, cleaning of carpets, cleaning of wheelchairs as per work schedule. General carpet cleaning with industrial equipment. Assisting in the serving of meals and beverages/snacks to residents. Assisting in washing up crockery etc. and cleaning kitchenettes. Reporting verbally or in writing any defects in furniture, fittings, and equipment to the shift leader. Assisting in daily contact with residents promoting their well-being and contributing to the overall teamwork of the Resource Centre. Assisting with care tasks as necessary.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be flexible with your working hours happy to work across weekends and weeks. Excellent communication skills are required in order to ensure good communication with residents and colleagues. You will be willing to have a DBS check and take part in COSHH and Manual Handling training.
