An exciting new opportunity has become available for a shift Team Leader at our Recycling site in the Basildon area. You will assist with the smooth running of operations and production teams within the plant and adhere to company policies and all aspects of health and safety. The person in this role will be responsible for the all the agency staff, supporting the on-site Account Manager, ensuring that they comply with all the policies and procedures.

Shifts:
Monday to Saturday - 15:00 - 23:00hrs

Pay Rate: £10ph

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To achieve and maintain production levels, concentrating in the sorting cabins
• Ensure that all the pickers are in the right position at all times sorting the correct material
• Ensure that the material being sorted complies with the required quality and quantity (picking efficiency)
• Deliver training talks to staff, mentor, monitor and train new staff.
• Ensure that agency staff do not do unauthorised breaks
• Ensure that the agency staff wear all the required PPE at all times
• Manage the agency Staff during break downs, including, assist in blockages and/or doing other activities that maybe required during those periods and complete relevant reports in line with this
• Deal with H&S and any HR issues relating to agency staff
• To be responsible for the supervision and leadership of agency employees ensuring that resources are available and utilised effectively
• Support in any accident investigation as required
• Maintaining standard operating procedures as required
• Understand operational requirements, standards and service deliverables under the contract
• Provide suitable means for controlling emergency situations e.g. head counts
• Use radio frequency equipment as required
• Working to health and safety, environmental and other standards as they apply to the process.
• Promote health and safety and best practice at all times.
• Reduce waste and improve efficiencies.

QUALIFICATIONS (desirable although training can be provided for the right candidate):
• Supervisory qualifications or training
• IOSH Working safely
• First Aider


ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative, prioritising and managing workloads.
• A responsible and mature attitude to work.
• Numerate and literate with a good level of English is essential
• The ability to work quickly and safely especially during busy periods.
• Self-discipline/ability to work independently.
• Ability to speak Polish would be an advantage but not essential.
