This Bookkeeper job in Shrewsbury is suitable for an AAT/QBE qualified accountant with experience working in a public practice accountancy firm. The vacancy has arisen due to recent expansion and is a key support role, working within a busy and friendly team. The role includes Bookkeeping and Management Accounts work for a range of clients.

This fast-paced and ambitious Shropshire accountancy firm has a network of over 20 offices and works with a portfolio of clients ranging from Start-ups, Charities, Family Owned business and Corporates with T/O of up to circa £100m. Services including Audit, Tax, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Business advisory, Banking & Finance, Corporate Recovery and HR. The practice also boasts a dedicated Payroll Bureau which services clients across the whole group, and a centralised Business Development/Sales team to support new client acquisition. 

The practice is very well established in the wider Midlands area and has a strong reputation. The recent levels of organic growth are likely to continue, meaning access to a varied client base along with regular opportunities for promotion. The firm attributes its success to its focus on developing the service offering, along with developing and promoting from within. 

The practice has a varied and growing client portfolio which centres around family owned and owner managed business. They now require a Bookkeeper with excellent communication skills to support their client delivery team.

The main responsibilities for this Bookkeeper will include;

• Bookkeeping to trial balance
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Monthly Management accounts
• Resolving client queries
• Running weekly and monthly payrolls
• Other ad hoc administration tasks

The perfect Bookkeeper will be AAT/ACCA/CIMA qualified or have relevant previous experience working in a similar role within a busy public practice accountancy firm. Great communication skills and confidence in dealing with clients are both required to be successful in this role, along with excellent working knowledge of Sage Line 50, Sage Payroll & Microsoft Office. You must have had experience of creating Management Accounts as well as delivering general Bookkeeping to be successful in this particular role.
