Direct Workforce are working with a well established client based in Carlisle to recruit for experienced HGV Technician/ Fitter.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Inspect vehicles to MOT standard
  • Diagnose faults and rectify all types of faults
  • Service and repair customer vehicles or components using appropriate equipment and tools in a safe and economical manner
  • Maintain current product knowledge and attend training courses as required
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts
  • Carry out roadside assistance
  • Complete all paperwork as necessary
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made and all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all aspects of H&S working practices are adhered to
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness

Candidate requirements:

  • City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • The ability to organise work on own initiative and work under pressure
  • Experience working with trailers, hydraulic systems and electrical systems
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Computer literacy, diagnostic experience essential
  • Ability to work within guidelines given and to strict deadlines
  • Ability to actively seek solutions to problems
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Flexible in hours and approach
  • Class 1 HGV Licence would be distinct advantage

39 hours per week (2 weekly rota). This is a permanent full-time position. Salary £21,500 per annum basic, plus overtime at time and a half. Apply online today if you would like to be considered for this position.
