Job Purpose:

To manage and lead a team of developers based in Chippenham and Mumbai in developing and maintaining Capita's Advantage Revenues & Benefits software solutions currently used by 140 local authorities across England, Scotland and Wales

Main Responsibilities:

  • Management of the day-to-day operation of the Revenues & Benefits software development teams based in Chippenham and Mumbai

  • Manage multiple software development projects in parallel through all phases of the software development cycle

  • Overseeing quality and structure of software design, change management and code reviews

  • Provide timely and accurate estimates

  • Prioritize individual and team workload to meet your team objectives and goals

  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance levels

  • Provide analysis of requirements, design direction and contribute to choice of fit-for-purpose technologies

  • Clarify system changes and answer product/business questions, ensuring that the most appropriate solution is implemented

Essential Experience:

  • Management/leadership experience of working through the design, development, release cycle and delivery of software products to market

  • Experienced with Agile software development techniques and being able to work with Hybrid alternatives, such as Kanban and Waterfall

  • Ability to lead multiple teams of software engineers

  • Good knowledge of and disciplined in configuration management, version control, code reviews, release management, deployment, compliance and documentation control practices

Desirable Experience:

  • Practical design and development experience using OpenROAD, Ingres, C/C++, C#, Winforms & Telerik controls

  • Successful delivery record of software applications and working under tight project deadlines

  • Understands the importance of staff development and teamwork in a software team environment

  • A friendly approachable attitude is vital along with the ability to work well under pressure

  • Proficient in project management techniques and principles, using JIRA and MS Project

  • Degree or other Higher Education
