Our client based in Cambridge are seeking an experience Payroll Professional to join them in a 12 month Fixed Term Contract which is likely to end as a permanent hire depending on how well the initial assignment goes.

You must have Sage Line 5- Payroll experience to be considered for this role. They will consider immediately available candidates and those on a 1 month or less notice period.

The salary for this role will be between £26-28k per year. You must be experienced in the majority of the main duties listed below.

Main duties:

Process and maintain the monthly payrolls in accordance with established timetables

Process and check statutory payments (eg SMP,SSP etc) are in line with current legislation

Maintain employee record files, including sickness and holiday records, to support payroll entries

Liaison with the Heads of Department and HR Manager to ensure correct payments made

Regular reconciliation of PAYE, NIC, pension, Student Loan, Tax Credits and any other payroll deductions and credits paid over to HM Revenue & Customs and other institutions

Prepare all statutory returns and forms for all payrolls including RTI returns

Maintain records of employees' membership and Contributory Pension Schemes and payments made to both

Assist in preparing any other returns from other statutory bodies eg. Benefits Agency, Tax Credits Office and National Statistical Surveys

Attend any regular updates and courses necessary to ensure kept up to date with all current payroll legislation

Reconciliation of the Bursars bank account and petty cash to include the input of any necessary journals and account allocation to the accounting system

Reconciliation of the Contributory Pension Scheme bank account, updating all accounting entries into the Excel cashbook

Process and pay all purchase invoices ensuring correct VAT analysis is recorded and reconciliation of all supplier statements.

Liaise with the Conference Office regarding all sales invoicing relating to all taxable conferences

Reconcile bank account

Carry out credit control procedures ensuring that any potential bad debts are immediately reported.
