C++ Developer - Real Time, Embedded, Linux, ARM

Derby - £35,000 - £45,000

C++ Developer with expert knowledge of Linux systems sought by a leading research and development technology company building the latest integrated solutions for deployment into the transport and logistics sector. There is an excellent opportunity to get involved in all aspects of product development, working closely with their existing hardware and software engineering team.

The software development environment is varied and the C++ Developer get involved in porting existing Linux systems to new platforms based on embedded processors - ARM, PowerPC, MIPS, x86 etc. You will be involved from design to the implementation of embedded software that integrates with their bespoke hardware designs.

In this diverse technical environment, there is never a dull moment!

The successful C++ Developer should have a good mixture of the following:

  • C / C++ Development - Linux and Embedded
  • Familiarity with the ARM processor and other typical embedded processors - PowerPC, MIPS and x86
  • Familiarity with communication protocols - TCP/IP, RS485, USB, CAN etc.
  • Experience of bringing up, debugging and design testing / verification of new hardware
  • Design system level architecture - software architecture definition, choice of OS, HW/SW trade-offs etc.
  • Knowledge of reading design schematics and data sheets for electronic components
  • Experience with any of the following types of system is highly beneficial: embedded, real-time, multi-thread, multi-processor/multi-core systems.
